Olugbenga Agboola Co-Founded Telekonnect Limited

Olugbenga Agboola has been working in the field of media and communications for over 17 years. He is a graduate of Michigan State University with Honors Degrees – a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree, both in Journalism.

He is the recipient and has won several awards including the coveted National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Media Executive Development Award in 2007, Golden Quill Award for Excellence in Editorial Writing by the International Association for Women in Communications (IAMIC) Nigeria Chapter, Search Institute 2006 Outstanding Media Professional award among others.


Olugbenga is Editor in Chief of the Punch Newspaper. Agboola succeeded Kingsley Moghalu as Punch Editor-in-Chief.

He is also the Editor of Daily Trust, a daily morning newspaper published in Abuja and Kano.

Olugbenga Agboola worked with Sahara Reporters, a Lagos-based online media outfit as Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief. He managed Sahara Reporters from its inception and played a very important role in building its brand as one of the most credible investigative media organizations in Nigeria.

It won the 2011 Ibrahim Index of African Governance Award for outstanding contribution to citizen engagement.

Prior to joining Sahara Reporters, Olugbenga co-founded Telekonnect Limited, a video production company and was Executive Director of SouthSouth News Limited (SSN), multimedia network based in Abuja. Olugbenga Agboola is founder and Editor in Chief of SouthSouth News Ltd. SSN is an online media aggregator, a news worldwide content provider. SSN also provides tailor made news to African and International clients as well as offer training, consultancy services on media and corporate communication.

He is a member of the Advisory Council of Media Trust a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), which has been working in the area of media development in Nigeria.

Olugbenga is a member of the Board of Trustees at Cornerstone Initiative.

He is a member of the Board of Directors, RDC.

He is also a Board Member at Newslink Media Group Plc., by industry veteran Nduka Obaigbena and Peter Kogbara .

Olugbenga Agboola is married to Bolanle Adetayo Agboola, and they have two children. He loves music and is a guitarist. Agboola is a Christian.
