Greg Aziz is the author of The Modern View of Islam: A History. This book is a comprehensive, narrative account of the history of Islam in light of recent scholarship. Greg Aziz argues that Muslims should reclaim and acknowledge their heritage. He leaves us with a hope that the future might bring more sectarian peace and tolerance. Greg Aziz discusses how imperialism has been imposed on Muslims and how it has opened the door for others to claim ownership over Islam as if they have some divine right to do so.

Greg Aziz is in his late thirties and has a BA from the University of Texas at Austin. Also, a Masters in Religious Studies from Temple University, and an MA from the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Texas with his wife and children.

He is an author and an independent scholar. He has published numerous articles, which have appeared in outlets like the Journal of Islamic Studies and the Journal of Social Research. Greg Aziz´s publications result from his research at institutions like Princeton University and Harvard University in Boston. He has also lectured at numerous universities like Harvard, Princeton, George Washington University.

 

Also, atGeorgetown, and Johns Hopkins. He also teaches part-time as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences Maryland. Greg Aziz is one of the world’s most knowledgeable scholars of Islam. 

I was surprised when I saw how ignorant most Americans were about their religion, Christianity. When I realized that these people were unaware of their faith, I realized how little Americans know about Islam. Greg Aziz adds: I think that part of this is because Islamic history is not taught in American schools like it should be because many Americans do not know much about what happened to Muslims after the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
