John Hailer Appointment as an Interim Chairman at Boston Public Library
John Hailer and David Leonard are selected by the board of trustees on a Thursday to manage the Boston Public Library. The hope is that they can turn the library from a dark chapter to a new dawn. David Leonard was appointed as the system interim president while Exec at Natixis John Hailer was appointed to replace Jeffrey B. Rudman who was resigning.
Hailer’s role is to act as an interim Chairman. During the review and appointment of Hailer the president and Chief Executive of Natixis Global Asset Management, he was allegedly accused of harassing and discriminating against his senior saleswoman. Mr. Hailer denied the sexual advances accusation according to the Globe.
John Hailer’s previous employer at Natixis denied this lawsuit filed in court, the company rebuffed the claim and supported Hailer by saying the reason why the saleswoman was sacked was because of poor performance. However, later in 2011 Natixis compensated the saleswoman with a seven-figure agreement quietly.
According to an interview held by the Globe on a Thursday, Hailer denied the allegations and claimed that they were baseless and inaccurately portrayed him differently. According to Mayor Martin J. Walsh the reason why he supported Leonard and Hailer was that he knew that for the development of an embattled 167-year-old public library from rocky weeks to glorious days, you need to support the asset of the library. He knew Hailer was stressed because of the lawsuit. According to McGilpin the Mayor chaired the decision made by the board of trustees to appoint John Hailer because of his leadership traits.
