Greycoat: UK Government Unveils Proposals to Slash Ground Rents

According to Greycoat Real Estate Agency specialists, proposals are in place in the UK government and parliament to try to help control the consistently rising costs of rent. The idea is to freeze rent rates where they currently are, and then cap the rising rent at a percentage of the value of the property, in order to help people who are renting continue to be able to afford a place to live.

This also helps individuals who rent homes and cannot sell the home for a return on their investment by paying to live there while getting nothing in return for all of the men they spent. The idea is to create a fairer system for all of the individuals within the UK who are currently renting homes. This, Greycoat explains, rather than living in a home they already own.

The concept of placing caps on rent allows people to be able to afford to rent a home based on the cost of the overall property. Greycoat adds that rents will never be able to exceed a certain value based on the property’s actual market value at that time.

This gives people a chance to be able to stay in a home and not become homeless or have to live paycheck-to-paycheck just to be able to afford rent and keep a roof over their family’s heads. Greycoat believes that these acts also help future renters by keeping prices affordable, so they can afford to rent a place for their family to live in the future.

If renters can save thousands of pounds on an annual basis, they will be able to save up to purchase their own home, which allows their family to get a return for their investment. They are looking to pass these through the UK parliament through the upcoming Leasehold and Freehold Bills that are coming up through the parliament in the coming sessions. And this is a vital matter on which the Greycoat and all agencies must be aware of.

People should have an easier time finding an affordable place to rent, even if they make a lower level of income than the UK average, and they should have a way to extend their lease in their home if they find it a good place to live and if they are able to reliably pay their rent on time and stay in good standing with their landlord at the time of lease renewal. Specialists at Greycoat will be there to guide you throughout the whole process.
