Randy Douthit

Randy DouthitRandy Douthit is the director of Judy Justice Inc. This non-profit organization is “an advocate for people who have been incarcerated and help those who are striving to succeed in their post prison lives.” Judy Justice is a New York Theological Seminary project that offers theological education and practical help to those in prison. After serving time together in prison, Douthit and his wife, Judy, founded the non-profit organization. They continue to work together to help former inmates.

After earning his degree, Randy wanted to continue helping those struggling with substance abuse. He joined organizations like the New York City Mission Society, a city-wide organization that helps former inmates find employment and housing, and Alcoholics Anonymous. He then created Judy Justice Inc., named after his wife, which would help those reentering society after prison time.

Douthit started with a home-based ministry because it was easier to assist with his family’s help. He and his wife then rented an apartment, and Judy Justice Inc. began offering programs. He now helps former prisoners in their early twenties who want to receive vocational training through college classes and internships. The organization also helps people interested in finding employment. “We take these people into the community,” explained Douthit. “They live wherever they feel like living.” Those who decide to stay at Judy Justice are given an allowance of $800 monthly to pay for tickets, food, rent, and other necessities while looking for jobs. Judy Justice also helps former inmates get back onto their feet, get a haircut, apply for jobs, and go to the doctor.

Randy Douthit has served two four-year terms with the New York Theological Seminary board of directors. He is president of the board of trustees for Ohio University and has also served as an executive committee member for the Prison Fellowship. In addition to his position at Judy Justice, Douthit is a full-time pastor at Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans.

Randy DouthitDouthit works with other organizations like Annie E Barker’s Foundation and Bayou SOS (Salvation Outreach). Bayou SOS is a non-profit organization that helps former inmates with housing and career development.
