NJ Ayuk is an Attorney in Nigeria who focuses on Business and Finance Law. He graduated in 2012 from the University of Lagos, with a First Class Honours degree in Corporate and Banking Law, before obtaining a Master’s degree from the same institution in law. At the end of his Master’s program, Mr. Ayuk participated in a competitive internship as a Junior Associate in the Corporate and Banking Law Department of the prestigious Nigeria Law School (NLS), Lagos. He subsequently attended the University of London, where he read for a Postgraduate Diploma in International Trade Law.

Mr. Ayuk is also a licensed Instructor of Mathematics at the New England Institute of Technology, approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (BMEDEST) and accredited by the National Council for Curriculum Development (NCCD). He has been teaching mathematics for several years at both local educational institutions and other education centers in Lagos and several other states in Nigeria.

Mr. Ayuk also practiced at an Advocacy law firm, representing one of Nigeria’s largest private banks on securities arbitration matters in London, United Kingdom. He has been practicing as an advocate since 2011, representing individuals and corporate entities in both domestic and international arbitration proceedings before various courts and tribunals around Nigeria and abroad.

Mr. Ayuk is regularly invited to attend and deliver lectures on commercial and securities law in various institutions of higher learning, including NLS, the University of Lagos, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the University of Ibadan, and London Metropolitan University. He also advises different organizations on their corporate and commercial matters.

In addition to being a practicing lawyer and an advocate, Mr. Ayuk is also the Chairperson of several community and non-profit organizations in Nigeria. He currently serves as the Public Advocate of the University of Lagos and as the Treasurer for the Lagos State University (LASU) Alumni Association. He is also a Director of The African Business School, established in 2010 to provide quality training to African business graduates for immediate employment in local and international markets. In addition, Mr. Ayuk is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Oba Ile Ogbaluwa Foundation in Ijebu Ode, Osun State. He also serves as a trustee for several other non-profit corporations in Nigeria.

NJ Ayuk is currently a Research Assistant at The Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London. His research interests include corporate and securities law and commercial arbitration in the African context.

Since joining the NCCD, NJ Ayuk has written more than 50 articles for local and international law journals, including International Arbitration Review, International Law and Regulation Journal, Nigerian Law Journal, and The Nigerian Law Journal.

In 2011, he received a Fellowship Award for Excellence in Arbitration Practice from the London-based International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the world’s leading alternative dispute resolution center.

He also served on panels at The World Economic Forum’s Global Leaders Meeting 2014, the 2014 Lagos Leadership Conference, and the 2015 Annual Meeting of The International Legal Forum (ILF). In addition, he was invited to attend and deliver keynotes on Commercial Law at several prestigious forums around Nigeria.
