Glenn Lurie, President and CEO of AT&T Mobility.
Glenn Lurie vision goes beyond tomorrow. It is forward-thinking, it is focused on accelerating the adoption of new technology, and it is not afraid to be bold. In fact, even after a 30-year career with AT&T, Lurie’s work as president and CEO of AT&T Mobility goes far beyond that at the cellular provider. Glenn Lurie has been instrumental in leading AT&T’s approach to cell service in order to make more feasible some of the big ideas he had imagined long before he took over as CEO of the company. That includes an aggressive plan for 5G wireless service utilizing high-powered millimeter waves (a technology which will likely help establish AT&T’s dominance in this market). The future, as Lurie sees it, is unlimited.
“There’s a tremendous amount of innovation going on around the world,” he said. “People don’t think about AT&T Mobility as an innovation company. People think about us as a service provider. We deliver services to consumers, but we’re also delivering tools for other innovators.”
Lurie was named president and CEO of AT&T Mobility in October 2015, bringing with him a unique combination of visionary and technical expertise that will ultimately be the driving force behind deciding how AT&T moves forward.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Lurie is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and received his MBA from Harvard University. He is also a 20-year veteran of AT&T and has held executive management positions in both the sales and marketing department and AT&T’s facilities group.
Lurie serves on the board of directors for the National Space Society, is co-chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization, is a member of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Initiative (the organization that coordinates international cities’) board of directors, serves on the board of directors for Austin Energy (a municipal utility) and on several private companies serving both business and
