Altheria Jackson is the Executive Staff of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation. She is also the Senior Manager of Marketing Communications and Public Relations for The Roosevelt. She was nominated as a manager in June 2016 after working in-house for over ten years and has volunteered with several non-profit organizations. She is committed to public service, community engagement, and enhancing shared spaces on Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation

Early life

Roosevelt Island has been Altheria Jackson’s home since her birth. She is a lifelong resident of Roosevelt Island in New York City and has lived here her entire life. She attended the Ursuline Academy on Roosevelt Island and graduated in 1990 before attending Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. An English major with a minor in French, she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in May 1995

She completed her Master’s Degree at CUNY’s Baruch College in Manhattan with a focus on Marketing Communications and Public Relations. She completed her final project for the Culinary Arts Management program at City Tech NYC with an emphasis on sustainable practices and green catering, entitled “A Study of Organic Food for School Districts

Career

Altheria Jackson has had a 20-year career working in the public sector. She first served as the Executive Director of Family and Child Services on Roosevelt Island, managing employees and volunteers, planning budgets, fundraising events, and managing special projects. In her free time, she volunteered at the New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) program in Manhattan

In December 2001, she was hired by Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation as their marketing director. Under her leadership, Roosevelt Island became an award-winning organization for project management and marketing communications. In June 2016, she was hired as the Senior Manager of Marketing Communications and Public Relations for The Roosevelt, located on Roosevelt Island in New York City

Achievement

In June 2016, she was nominated as manager of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation by the ROC Board of Directors. Over the years, under her leadership, Roosevelt Island has won awards in public relations and marketing. She has helped oversee the development and installation of new gardens, monuments, and public arts on Roosevelt Island

On September 2017,she was appointed Executive Director of Friends of Fort Totten Park. In this position, she will continue to take part in planning future events such as the annual Teddy Bear Picnic, Fashion Fest, and Kids Fest, continuing a tradition from past years
